Dr. Kendra N. Bryant Aya (s/her) is a Black lesbian woman who works as an associate professor of English. She has a Ph.D. in English, Rhetoric & Composition; an M.Ed. in Secondary English Education; and an M.A. in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She also holds certificates in creative writing and social justice education. Kendra has published peer reviewed essays in journals like Journal of Basic Writing, Studies in Popular Culture, and Peitho as well as creative works in Glass: A Journal of Poetry; The Nervous Breakdown; and Solace: Writing, Refuge and LGBTQ Women of Color. Kendra is the editor of Engaging 21st Century Writers with Social Media, IGI-Global Publishers, 2016; and author of her debut collection of poetry, we be theorizin, August 2024.


Cyndi Ixchele Aya (s/her) is a queer Black woman wife and mother of two sons. She is also a Reiki master and a licensed clinical mental health counselor. With 15+ years counseling experience, Cyndi is the founder of InnerVersations, PLLC where she actively counsels her clients through an Afrocentric lens. Cyndi is currently working on her memoir.
